Today begins the inaugural exhibit of a local organization of illustrators – The Southern Ontario Nature and Science Illustrators . Since the group’s formation last year, I’ve served as its President.
It took about 10 months of planning, with much time devoted to it during the last month by myself and several other volunteers. Yesterday we set-up the show at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington, Ontario.
Those photographs show only a portion of the 42 works on display. The diversity of subjects, styles, and media is impressive, as is the depth of talent here in Southern Ontario. I’m excited to report that my Red Trillium was awarded First Place (by a vote of those present) and my Pterotrigonia thoracica received the Third Place award.
You can read the press release here at SONSI’s website. We take the show down on May 29.
