This American shad original painting is archivally matted and framed with regular glass in a warm silver brushed metal frame, to complement the fish’s silvery body.
The American shad is native to the North American Atlantic coast, where they spend most of their lives in the ocean. They return to freshwater to spawn. My watercolor painting of this species appeared in the book The Atlantic Coast; A Natural History by Harry Thurston.
